First Year Playing the Electric Guitar - Month by Month Progress
I started playing the electric guitar about one year ago today when I was 22. Over the past year I've been recording many clips of things I've been learning and I thought it would be cool to share my progress for other people getting started. Most of these videos I never expected to share, so please excuse the sound and video quality :). I've been entirely self taught learning through different resources online. I tried to play every day when I was around my guitar, but with work and other things there were some long periods where I wasn't able to play. But for the most part I've been pretty consistent. I will be uploading many more song covers in the future, so stick around if you'd like to see more! Record Audio and MIDI at the Same Time: Connect & Record your Keyboard in Reaper DAW Software

Record Audio and MIDI at the Same Time: Connect & Record your Keyboard in Reaper DAW Software How to record the sound and the MIDI output from your digital piano or keyboard simultaneously into your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) recording software. Read more here: http://bit.ly/305cmua Record the sound of your keyboard or piano directly through an audio interface, and connect the USB MIDI output of your keyboard up to your Mac or PC to create a MIDI track at the same time. Read more about my setup on Amazon by following the links below (all are Amazon affiliate links) Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB audio interface: https://amzn.to/2XjZUtz Roland Go Piano: https://amzn.to/328Qe47 Sony MDR-7506 Headphones: https://amzn.to/2Xnb40y Audio Technica AT2020 USB+ USB Mic (for voiceover): https://amzn.to/2Xnk463 Reaper DAW recording software: http://bit.ly/2VJ2KmW Learn more about MIDI connection: http://bit.ly/2JtVfNo Learn more about how to record the sound of your keyboard: http://bit.ly/2FNQueZ Step 1: Make sure you have correctly connected up your audio interface, then connect the audio output of your keyboard (either the line out, aux out or headphone out) to the line inputs of the interface. More more information about audio interfaces: http://bit.ly/2TGH8Gk Step 2: Make the MIDI connection. Most keyboards have a USB MIDI output so you should be able to connect the piano or keyboard directly up to the PC or Mac. If you only have MIDI ports, then you can use a USB MIDI interface, or if your audio interface has MIDI in and out, then you can use standard MIDI leads to connect your keyboard via your interface More information about What is MIDI here -including video tutorials: http://bit.ly/2FNeTS5 Step 3: Open up your DAW recording software(Reaper, Cubase, Garageband, Pro Tools, Ableton ..... etc) and check all the settings to make sure you have correctly enabled your audio interface for audio recording, and your keyboard for MIDI input. More information about music making software: http://bit.ly/30cnRQJ Step 5: Create a MIDI track, and an audio track. Check that you have routed the audio output of your interface to the audio track, and the MIDI input to your MIDI track. Assign a virtual instrument to your MIDI track. Need something more basic? Learn how to make your first audio recording step-by-step: http://bit.ly/2FNQvzz Step 6: Arm both tracks for recording, then on the main transport bar, start recording .... if everything has been set up correctly then you should find you are recording audio and MIDI tracks simultaneously. Note that you do not have to record your keyboard, using this method you could create, say, a vocal track through your interface at the same time as playing your keyboard and creating a MIDI track.
