Playing blues on the fiddle doesn't have to depend on accompaniment playing the chords. In this lesson I show how you can incorporate 2-note shapes which highlight the chord sequence, at the same time as soloing. I use on-screen sheet music, and a free copy is available to subscribers (see below). Below are details of further fiddle resources from Chris Haigh 1. Patreon 2. Books 3. Patrick Hamilton (composer) Few secrets in music land for Patrick Hamilton, reknown producer, composer, arranger and session player for a variety of leading artists. Yet there is one more territory he is eager to discover: The translation of his inner movies into his own piano originals. TREES In “Trees” my piano relates to you how the lockdown forced me to leave my mancave and wander in to the sunlight and the forest surrounding the studio’s. I built a relationship with the trees during my daily solitary walks, and found them to be the most interesting creatures. We had different dialogues, moving from careful & somewhat shy discoveries to rather happy and hopeful conversations… This is a story of new and unexpected but profound friendships… enjoy! People who plug in an electric violin for the first time are often... disappointed. There can be a bit of a learning curve to figuring out how to make your electric violin sound good. Getting the technique right, getting the right gear, and setting that gear properly can take a bit of time. In this video, we talk about some of the most common mistakes people make and how to correct them.

If i were a rich man (violin lesson)
If I were a rich man is probably the best known tune from Fiddler on the Roof. In this violin lesson I show first a basic version of the melody, with lower and upper octave options. The second version includes some klezmer ornamentation (including the vibrato trill, downward glissando and drones), with double stops and arpeggios to emphasise the chord changes. A free pdf of the sheet music in this video is available to subscribers (see below). Below are details of further fiddle resources from Chris Haigh 1. Patreon 2. Books 3. Ft. Liz on fiddle and Dan Faiella on guitar! Please note that I’m a folk musician and fiddler, and I don’t consider myself a classical violinist. In my experience of the folk tradition, techniques tend to be somewhat informal, variable, and flexible, so take what I say with a grain of salt :) My thoughts on fiddling are based on my own personal musical experience. If you’re looking for more formal violin technique and instruction, there are other resources out there that are geared towards that! These videos are not intended as a substitute for the advice of a medical professional (when it comes to any thoughts on techniques such as posture, hand placement, etc). Happy fiddling, friends!

Frank Wilson - Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)
The original version of this song is quite simply the most sought-after Motown and Northern Soul record of all time. The legendary Motown producer, Frank Wilson, made this solo record for Motown which was so rare, and so in demand, that someone paid fifteen thousand English pounds for a copy. He was a big help with the Motorcity project, in 1989 and 1990, and he and his wife Bunny always stay at my house every time they're visiting London. The Motown single "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" became so huge that everyone wanted to see Frank perform it. For years he refused, but finally he gave in and did so at Fleetwood in 2000, in front of two and a half thousand people, the one and only time he said he would ever do this. But previously to that, we had visited him at his Los Angeles home, and filmed him at the piano, so people got to see this legendary song being performed for the first ever time on The Strange World Of Northern Soul DVD. It is Wilson's only Motown single and is a prized item among collectors.
