Paddy Fahey, Liz & Yvonne Kane - Paddy Fahey Reels | Gradam Ceoil TG4 2001
I ndíl chuimhne Paddy Fahey (1916-2019), a cailleadh sa bhliain 2019 ag 102 bliain d'aois. B'as Cill Chonaill in oirthear an chontae do Paddy Fahey a chum ós cionn 100 píosa ceoil ar fad. Bronnadh gradam Cumadóir na Bliana TG4 ar Paddy Fahey sa bhliain 2001. In memory of Paddy Fahey (aka Paddy Fahy, 1916-2019) : Paddy Fahey was an Irish composer and fiddler who is considered one of the finest composers of tunes that are in the style of traditional Irish music. Fahey was from Kilconnell in East Galway. His music had a distinctive yearning, magical quality often referred to as "Draíocht". Here he is performing a set of his own compositions with the Kane Sisters, Liz and Yvonne, at Gradam Ceoil TG4 in 2001, the year he received his Composer of the Year award in Cork Opera House. 3 reels: Paddy Fahey's (Reel 0:05), Paddy Fahey's (1:09) & Paddy Fahey's (2:32). Seo hiad na deirfiúracha Kane ag seinm le Paddy Fahey ag Gradam Ceoil TG4 2001 i gCorcaigh. Tá siad ag casadh trí ríl a chum Paddy é féin. I'm learning a new tune a day. Today I'm playing at a Celtic Festival with Killarney and also with some other trad folks, and one of these fine folks recently gave me a list of a couple dozen sets. I looked up and down the list to find a tune to learn today, and this is the one I chose. I learned it from a youtube video of the Vallely Brothers with Tiarnan O Duinnchinn. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKwIMtdC7Ho). It's a simple reel. For more tunes everyday, visit https://bit.ly/3i1pdJm. Send me tune suggestions if you have any ideas!
