Practice and Prepare With Nicky Introduction
Welcome back to new videos! So excited to share with you two different sets of videos which we will be running simultaneously. ‘With Nicky’ will be exclusively about practice (yay!) which, strangely enough, we haven’t really specifically talked about that much so far. We’ll be breaking up practice concepts into individual tips such as how to organise your time, how to stay concentrated and what to do with the time you have. Alongside that, we’ll be helping everyone who has a place at the Benedetti Sessions next year to prepare with us. Preparation for any single event, whether that be a workshop, or a concert or even a lesson can be a bumpy road! It’s not something which is linear and so you have to enter into a journey of preparation as one that’s going to be a bit up and down. Sometimes you’ll feel like you’re improving, sometimes it might feel like you’re getting worse 😱, but don’t worry, it’s consistency that is so important. Over the next couple of months, we’ll be delving deep into the repertoire we are learning and tying that to the more fundamental basics of playing. We will be looking at topics like storytelling, approaching the style and attitude of the piece, the physicality of playing and how to feel ready for an event or workshop coming up. The first ‘Prepare with Nicky’ video will be out at the end of this week 🥳 and ‘Practice with Nicky’ starts on Tuesday next week (29 October). We’d love to hear from you. Please subscribe to the YouTube channel (click on the bell for notifications when our new videos are out) and use #preparewithnicky anywhere you like! Huge thanks to our partners Classic FM, The Strad, The Violin Channel, WQXR, ABRSM and Charanga who will be sharing the videos with their audiences. These videos have been supported by ESTA UK, MiSST- The Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme and Oasby Music Group and we are very grateful for their support. Film: Jaegerfilm
