Joel is on stage with a violin and a pedal loop station. A few seconds later, the audience is carried away by a stunning cover of Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me A River. In this beautiful and mesmerizing performance, Joel tells us to strive for excellence and be like that one bus driver we have all come across once who just loves his job and puts a smile on everyone’s face. Composer and violinist Joel Grainger. He was classically trained but is now exploring a dynamic range of musical styles, from Indian Classical to Hip Hop, giving him a real ability to be creative with the violin. Whilst still at the beginning of his musical career, he is gaining a wealth of experience. This includes selection as a UK finalist for the BOSS World Looping Championships, writing and recording for a number of producers, artists and composers (including recently for a BBC documentary), and the recent filming for an appearance on BBC’s ‘The One Show’. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3ev4Dyn

Presonus Revelator Review Follow Up - Headphone Port Test + Other FAQs

Presonus Revelator Review Follow Up - Headphone Port Test + Other FAQs I love the PreSonus Revelator USB Microphone - but one subscriber at least was not so impressed. He had a few moans about the microphone. So in this follow on to my detailed review, I take a closer look at the issues he mentioned: the quality of the headphone port audio output; the issue of picking up desktop noise; the issue of connecting the Revelator to a different microphone stand. So what's the verdict? I stand by my original review. For the money, the PreSonus Revelator is a great value microphone. The software bundle alone - with StudioOne Artist included - makes it an excellent purchase. And I thought the headphone port audio was great. But what do you think? Using different music genres (blues, southern rock, bluegrass, smooth jazz, and minor funk) I demonstrate how the fiddle can make the most of this scale, I show the single octave of the scale, all of the notes within first position, and how to use it in upper positions, even in the most difficult keys. ____________________________________________ Want to help support my channel? https://www.patreon.com/thefiddlechan... _______________________________________________ To learn more about jazz violin, see my books "Exploring jazz violin" and "Beginning jazz violin" published by Schott To look at or buy these and my other books, go to bit.ly/31ZWmgm ______________________________ Exploring Jazz Violin USA https://amzn.to/3i3qPPM UK https://amzn.to/2HjUpnt Beginning Jazz Violin USA https://amzn.to/3cr5Cy2 UK https://amzn.to/3crqEwy Exploring Folk Fiddle USA https://amzn.to/32YFUhc UK https://amzn.to/33ZpxR1 Discovering Rock Violin USA https://amzn.to/3kONQHV UK https://amzn.to/2RY88Tb Exploring Klezmer Fiddle USA https://amzn.to/32ZgYXd UK https://amzn.to/3mRKdCX French Fiddle Tunes USA https://amzn.to/330NeJa UK https://amzn.to/363850D Hungarian Fiddle Tunes USA https://amzn.to/32Xu7ji UK https://amzn.to/33YnsEO _________________________________________________ I have three sets of professional subscription online videos Exploring Jazz Violin, produced by MusicGurus https://bit.ly/3iVwt7p More about my jazz violin course on Musicgurus: It comes in two parts, each including 26 short lessons. Ornamentation on the fiddle. What's the Point?
This video looks at fiddle ornamentation across many styles, and attempts to explain where individual ornaments came from, and what musical purpose they serve. I consider the rolls, cuts and slides of Irish fiddle, the birl or bowed triplet of Scotland, the drones of English fiddling, the trills of Sweden, the Krekhts of klezmer, and the bowing, drones and hammer-ons of American old time and contest fiddle. Much of the text of this video comes from an article I wrote in "The Living Tradition" Magazine (Issue 110) I explain and demonstrate many of the ornaments and concepts described here, in my book "Exploring Folk Fiddle", published by Schott. https://bit.ly/3uLLrD8 To look at or buy my other books, go to. https://bit.ly/3lvRBDu The audio tracks on the video are taken from my CD "Off the Wall". 2 note chord shapes for the fiddle
Guitarists learn a finger shape for every chord. In this lesson I show how fiddle players can do the same thing, using two-note finger patterns. The easiest pair of notes to find has the root on the top, and the third below, on the next string down. Using this finger pattern it is very easy to change from major to minor, by lowering the lower note by a semitone. I also show how to find adjacent patterns for the I,IV and V chords. These techniques are useful for fiddlers in a variety of contexts; accompaniment with off- beat chops; long notes in country music; shuffles in bluegrass or old time, backing in Gypsy music, or rock accompaniment. Using EHX POG Pedals with Violin | Reverb Demo Video
Rebecca Faber likes to electrify her violin to unlock new sounds and explore new textures. With the Electro-Harmonix POG, Rebecca can go from an organ-type sound to a cello-type sound with a few adjustments. Rebecca goes through the POG 2, the Micro POG and the Nano POG and demonstrates how each interacts with her violin. Read more about EHX POG pedals and violin at http://bit.ly/2p0ShGO.

Does your Fiddle playing sound wooden? Watch this video for a cure
This video came about when I was thinking of all the things I struggled with at the beginning, when I first started to try and play the fiddle. My playing was so wooden, you could have made a boat and gone sailing. Then after a while you get a sail, then a rudder, then maybe a set of oars and before you know where you are your fiddling starts to make people want to start dancing. Either that or they start to swim away. Hence, this video could provide you with a 'lifejacket' to keep you afloat before you tackle the rapids. NOT:https://bit.ly/3rR6kel TAB:https://bit.ly/39zIoWx
