How to Use a High Pass Filter
The High Pass Filter (HPF) - also known as a low cut filter - is possibly one of the most underutilized tools in the electric string world. With an acoustic instrument, the body of the instrument itself serves the function of eliminating low frequency information such as bow changes. Once you amplify, though, either with a mic or a pickup, you lose that advantage. Using a high pass filter can clean up your sound and help your amplified instrument sound more like what your ears expect a violin, viola, or cello to sound like.
