A fiddle lesson showing how to take a traditional Celtic tune and add elements of rock, jazz and bluegrass, to make a Celtic crossover or fusion style. Drawing on the style of players such as Martin Hayes and Ashley McIsaac, I look at various techniques not normally used in traditional Irish and Scottish fiddle playing. These include syncopation, using open string drones, blue notes, extended and distorted notes. I use the tune "Cooley's Reel" as an example.
